We started off bright and early this morning for E's MRI, and it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. They put stick-on earplugs on her ears and headphones on top of that. Then they wrapped her up tightly in a swaddle and literally taped her to the table. She was only in the machine for less than five minutes, and although she screamed a few times she didn't cry until they ripped the earplugs off her face.
We left the MRI and went immediately to the neurosurgeon's office. He said E's MRI looked great. Most shunts fail within the first year, so we are only two months away from the likelihood of shunt failure decreasing significantly, which is a huge relief. He also examined E's legs and thinks that she will walk with braces once she turns two. Hooray! She's doing so well we don't have to go back to see him again for another year.
Right after that, we met with the nurtitionist, and she was really pleased with E's improvement in the last three weeks. She gained almost a pound! (It's ironic that I worked so hard to provide breast milk for E for 10 months, and now she's doing better on formula!)
Thank y'all so much for your prayers last night and this morning. They clearly made a difference in the outcome of E's appointments!

Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome news!!
