Baby E is Six Months Old Today

What an amazing six months it has been! Baby E has undergone A LOT: two neurological surgeries, two CT scans, a renal ultrasound, a urodynamic study, a rapid sequence MRI and countless doctor, physical therapy and nutritionist appointments. And she has handled it all beautifully.

Sweet Baby E continues to do phenomenally well. Cognitively, she's only two to three weeks behind her peers. We always joke about how smart (a.k.a. manipulative) she is. She follows you with her eyes when you leave the room, watches me like crazy when she gets hungry, freaks out with excitement when she sees the bottle and squawks at Jeff the minute he gets home so that he'll pick her up. To see just how smart she is, check her out on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qBX6CQFk4U She clearly has us wrapped around her little finger. Her gross and fine motor skills aren't that far behind her counterparts either. She always gets to where she should be (sitting up, holding her head up, tummy time, etc.), it just takes her a little longer to get there.

I looked back at my blog from the night before she was born, and here is what we asked everyone to pray for:

that the c-section would go well

that she would have no breathing/swallowing problems

movement in her legs

no club feet

the ability to ambulate and walk

that she would weigh at least six pounds

that her surgery to close her back would go well

no cognitive problems

good bladder control

that she didn't have to be catheterized

lots of breast milk

And every single one of those prayers was answered!!! (Obviously, she can't walk yet, but the doctors have given us every indication that with braces she should be able to walk.) Isn't that AMAZING!!!!!!!!! We can't thank you enough for all of your prayers - you'll never know how much your support over the last six months has meant to us! We truly could not have made it without you.

Next week she undergoes another renal ultrasound and has her six month well visit with the pediatrician. Please pray for good results with the urologist as it's always my fear we will have to catheterize her. Please also say lots of prayers for good growth. I got a nasty stomach virus earlier this week, became dehydrated and as a result my milk production has been low. I just hope she meets the doctor's weight expectations!
